Full Fields For Magic Millions

Capacity fields of 16 runners plus five emergencies have been declared for the gala 2 yr old Magic Millions Classic 2010 and 3 yr old Magic Millions Trophy 2010 races at the Gold Coast on Saturday.

The Gai Waterhouse-trained Bright Expectations will carry the number one saddlecloth in the $2 million two-year-old feature over 1200 metres while Queenslander Shoot Out will lead the field out for the $1 million three-year-old race over 1400 metres.

A full field of 16 runners plus one emergency was also declared on Tuesday for the $500,000 Magic Millions Cup 2010 (1400m).

Waterhouse is the most successful trainer in the Magic Millions Classic with three wins.

She won the feature for the first time with Assertive Lad in 2000 and followed up the next year with Excellerator while Dance Hero won in 2004.

This year she has two runners with Extreme Mover also making the final field.

Wyong Slipper winner Bright Expectations is quoted a $13 chance to give Waterhouse her fourth Classic winner while Extreme Mover is a point longer at $14 with TAB Sportsbet.

David Hayes will also will have two Magic Millions Classic runners with Ebony Rock and Red Belly Black.

Hayes could have three runners if first emergency Tricarico scrapes into the field.

Sydney trainer John O’Shea will be hoping to win his first Magic Millions Classic with Ambers Waltz who was an unlucky second to Magic Millions rival Triple Crown at Randwick on Boxing Day.

Ambers Waltz is the ruling favourite at $3.80 for the Magic Millions Classic while controversial sprinter Deer Valley heads early markets at $5.50 for the Magic Millions Trophy.

Deer Valley’s rider, apprentice Daniel Ganderton, faces a stewards’ inquiry on Thursday into his handling of the three-year-old who was beaten at the Gold Coast last Saturday.

The inquiry was to be held on Tuesday but was postponed when Ganderton’s plane from Sydney was cancelled due to mechanical problems.

The barrier draws for the Magic Millions features will be conducted at 4pm (AEST) on Tuesday at the Gold Coast Turf Club.
