The first Group One race of the year the Lightning Stakes 2010 is a 1000m race down the straight at Flemington. The 2010 Lightning Stakes is a WFA event worth a total of $500,000 in prize-money, and is the first leg of the ‘Global Sprint Challenge‘.

Winners of past Lightning Stakes reads like the who’s who of Australian sprinters; with the last 4 years winners being Scenic Blast, Apache Cat, Miss Andretti and Takeover Target.
