A relatively tight turning and small racetrack with a short straight, Canterbury hosts mostly midweek race meetings much like Warwick Farm does. Unfortunately this means that Canterbury no longer has a racing carnival of its own, and the 3 group one races it used to host have been moved to Rosehill.

It’s great to see the introduction of consistent night races at Canterbury, particularly on Friday nights during carnival times, in support of group one race meetings at Randwick and Rosehill. There are currently two listed races that take place at Canterbury annually, both sprint races, the Canterbury Classic over 1100m, and the PJ Bell Handicap over 1200m.
