The Cox Plate is arguably Australia’s most prestigious thoroughbred horse race; and is raced every year between the Springs two other biggest races, The Caulfield Cup and The Melbourne Cup. Raced over 2040 metres at Melbourne’s much loved Moonee Valley Racetrack, the Cox plate is without doubt Australia’s premier WFA (weight for age) race, attracting the cream of Australia’s racing stocks.

The 2008 Cox Plate was won convincingly, by the Mark Kavanah trained Maldivian; in a race that saw him lead from the front, and never headed. The Cox Plate has been won by such greats as Phar lap and Kingston Town; and in more recent times champions like the great Octagonal, Sunline, Might and Power, Sunline and Makybe Diva.
