The Manikato Stakes now marks the start of a huge weekend of racing in Melbourne during the Spring Carnival, after it was moved to the night before the legendary Cox Plate.

The 2017 Manikato Stakes is a Group 1 WFA race over 1200m at Moonee Valley, which is unique racing venue, especially under lights with its tight bends, the 1200m start usually ensures a hot pace. The Manikato has been won by some of Australia’s best sprinters, and year after year attracts a world class field.
