It’s the last Group One of the Winter racing carnival in Brisbane, and is a hotly contented race for the fillies and mares over 1400m. The 2012 Winter Stakes is a WFA Group 1 race, worth half a million in prize-money. The Winter Stakes can often through up some interesting formlines, with some at the end of their preps coming from the Stradbroke Handicap and Doomben 10,000, and some at the start heading into the big races at the Sunshine Coast the following weeks,
