Chipping Norton gets one more year at Randwick

CEO of the Australian Turf Club (ATC) Darren Pearce announced today that the Chipping Norton Stakes will remain at Randwick for one more year.

Traditionally run at Warwick Farm over the mile, the Chipping Norton has recently been run at Randwick due to the ongoing construction taking place aover the road.
at ‘The Farm’.

The decison was made this early to avoid any possible clash with the huge redevelopment being undertaken by the Inglis Group.

The massive redevelopment includes a “100,000 square metre complex, which will consist of up to 1000 thoroughbred stalls, a selling centre, auditorium,145-room hotel, restaurants, bars and cafes”.

The Chipping Norton has for many years been Warwick Farms premier Group One race, with the winner exempt from ballot for the Doncaster Mile. Recent winners read like the who’s who of Australia’s middle distance ranks, with winners including Winx, Boban, Shoot Out, Contributor and Danliegh.

Should all the work be finished in time, the ATC’s plan is to run the 2018 Chipping Norton Stakes again at ‘The Farm’.
